Well, as I've said, unix systems isnt userfriendly. But when/if you learnt them, they are way more effective then a windows system. You probably never used shell scripts couse you never lernt how to do them correct. I uses them almost every day.

I know it's hard in the beginning, you just want to do that single little drag and drop form your explorers a: drive to your c: drive, and there's no c: nor a a: ^_~ that's why I switched back and forth for a while before I got stucked to linux.

to copy a file from your floppy drive to your harddrive (c: for instance) you do
mount /dev/floppy /mnt && cp /mnt/myfile /path/to/where/i/want/myfile && umount /mnt

or, you simply put /dev/floppy in your /etc/fstab and you could do a
mount floppy
and copy
and unmount floppy
or you could just skipp the unmount.

Or if you really want, you could have it to automount/unmount.

That's the fine part with unix system, you can have as YOU want. It's not designed to fit for every person in the default installation. Like windows, it's designed to fit for most people in a standar installation. So you get lot's of stuff you dont want to have, and there's lot's of stuff you cant do, couse MS thinks "nah, no one would want to do this and that", I mean "640k should be enough for anyone" ^_~ Think about it, what kinda OS is it when you turn it off by clicking START!!!??
crazy, lol.

-edit----
I couldnt post this for some reason, so I'll just have to edit this post, here it goes:

Just wanted to add a little url to a screenie of what the FAQ page looks like

lol, i HAVE acctually lernt to do shell scripting and Unix, i just plain didnt like it, i have NO memory, ive been told all the mount thing b4, but i NEVER remember any of it except 'mount' which isnt much use, lol
and i just dont use my PC for anything that would ever require any shell scripts, i play games, i surf the web, and i do the odd bit of programming, i dont need any shell scripts for any of that, just good 'ol drag and drop and double click

thats what i HATE about unix! its so stupidly pointlessly long winded, i just want drag and drop!!

and im fine with all the assumtions microsoft makes, mainly because i (as well as 90% of there customers) only use those basic things, its only people like you that use more, and then you get unix, and i doubt microsoft cares about a few hundred odd programmer/hackers less from the customer base
i dont like the way Unix is so drasticly customisable, its TOO customizable, i dont start off with an OS so much as the vague husk of one, i have to build half o it myself! :/ (which i dont like at all), it also makes Unix usless in buisiness situations, heh

EDIT: had to work out how to do quotes (other then by clicking on the 'quote' link thing)
