u need an alpha server in order to play alpha... unless someone emulates one like they did with bnet servers and the w3 beta testing
same goes for beta1

NO, you can't play alpha and you probably won't ever. Wait until the regular ragnarok is back up again when Gravity announces it.

hey beans... never say never (god i hate that saying but i need to say it.)
im sure its possible someone could emulate the alpha server.... but they would get in a lot of trouble probably if gravity found out and pressed copywrite infringement against them. =/

it wouldn't be too hard to make a server that will work with an alpha client, problem is we don't know the specifics on the server side. it wouldn't be exactly like alpha, since we don't know the algorithms and code from servers. we'd hafta build our own based on the packets the client sends out and the packets the client expects. from there it's all up to the imagination of the programmer.

How could it be copyright if you build the server from the ground up? You didn't steal their code and make your own server...Is there some other clause in the copyright law?

if you're gonna use their client in the way not intended (by not playing on their servers) then you are illegally using their property. it's just easier to make a completely different game from scratch.

yes. the server sends commands for the client to display poring and jellopy..... which are all copywrited by lee myounjin
but speaking of copywrights and gravity, wasnt there a monster that was like the exact same thing as poporing in secret of mana?
well i guess if the name is different and it is just 1 shade lighter green... and the eyes are set higher..... then its not copywright i guess.

i wish i was a good enough programmer to create a server, or even good enough to be part of a group making one.... =(
well im still young and i havent even taken my first VB class yet... tomorrow is my first day of high school  well i think i will succeed in the computer classes they offer at my high school =D

| I really doubt gravity would do much, especially if it was a private alpha server they couldnt access, it wouldnt take too much bandwidth or work either, just someone that really knows what they are doing and has a lot of time to get it all worked out. I wouldn't mind doing it if I didn't have a billion other projects... :-\ Don't want to exactly do anything illegal anymore either now that I am entering the "Real World". |
