Has anyone ever had the problem of being molested by dozens of enemies at once? (circumstances below)

1. - Walking into an ares where enemies attack on initiative (Orcs, green theif bugs, etc) after someone has fled, leaving several waiting enemies in the exit grid of their area.

2. - Attacking a pack critter (eg: wolves) and having more spawn within initiative range of the battle you're fighting (you attack a wolf, others nearby will come and support the first wolf you attacked. more spawn nearby, fueling the fire, so to speak).

3. - Large groups of marauding enemies attack you unprovoked, even if they can't attakc on initiative. (This has only happened to me once)

4. - Some poor schuck has been fleeing a group of critters and they turn their attack on you since you're either stunned to too stupid to move.

If anyone has anything to add to this list, or their little war-stories to tell, that's why this thread is here

Helping others in these situations is kind of a guess, too. Not knowing whether to jump in and try and help someone or run is a hard call because at any moment they could up and die, leaving all the beasts of burden to your possibly-capable hands. Nice gestures involving masses of initiative weilding enemies often ends in having one's head handed to them. X_X

Happens all the time in the mids! At least in Beta 1. Beta 2, and I probably woulda died before I walked 10 feet.

Hmm...What kinda story...I'll come up with one later. I just woke up...

Maybe there's an invisible moster somewhere that lags the game!
And if youkill it, the game wont lag anymore!
My god, if it were THAT SIMPLE we'd all be very lucky... and very angry.

There was a special event back near the end of May 2002 when monsters would randomly attack cities at different times for like a week. It would be 5 Baphomets or 5 Gold Bugs released in some random city.

This is the original news thread by Gravity.

Best time to MVP Baph is after 6000 novices run into one. That's how I got mine . I wish I had captured the moment...

T_T Ragnarok didn't have much appeal that week. It kept lagging. I didn't feel like lvling up. And the monsters appeared in random cities. Sigh, no bosses showed up in any of the cities that I staked.

Though the day after it ended, my party leader used a "branch of dead tree". Hehe, 2 seconds later and every mage was soul striking...and bodies littered the floor. I think it took a minute for the mages to finally put down that renegade monster.

And to think, the prontera weapon's shop used to be crowded

Hmm... considering the server load, i now think that RO's system was actually quite ok. (5000-6000 a server?).

DAoC usually has a max server load of about 2500, and that's roughly split into 3 main areas (which are totally separate from each other), and one big RvR (PvP) zone that is usually only populated by at most 800 people at one go...
Then again DAoC runs like urm... 20 servers. RO could learn from this (Even better.. and tougher to code i guess... allow characters to cross servers, so you could pick "least congested" server to play on)

More servers on smaller capacity = less lag for individual players, and not like i'll be able to get to know all the 5000 people playin in my server. (Knowing 200 will be a feat enough).

Walking into Bibilan Dungeon BF4...
My screams were silenced by the sound of a thousand pins penetrating my flesh...

Abandon all hope.

Before I had entered, seven people wandered down to get to BF5. No one came back up.
