a lot of people want to make their own game(RPG or other), but i don't know too many who have actually finished making it. I've been in game development teams before and they all kinda give up or drop out before its gotten anywhere.
but uhh.. to answer your question. i'm thinking of making one. most of my other games i was making were just like 2D action games.

Most people on the road to developing their home-brewed games that I'VE come across have mostly dropped the whole thing and ended up doing something else. The key to keeping it going is motivation...oh, and good pixel artists are more-or-less IMPOSSIBLE to come by. =P

Yeah I have a hard time staying with anything for extended periods of time.
