this a really newbie question...
how do u go on about packet filtering and finding which packets are doing what?
any links or tutorials on this subject?
i use ethereal. and can filter the send and receive packets for ragnarok but i dont know how to wade through all that data to find a certain packet for a specific action.
all i can make sense are sometimes the ascii dump. |

| *shrugs* it takes patience. I suggest using WPE (windows packet editor) it is easier because it only moniters ragnarok and you dont see packets from other stuff. |

well, there is a version 1.3 out, but i think it only runs on win 98, if you are running 2k or xp i have an older version that only displays sent packets, i can put it up if you wish. You can also use iris from www.eyee.com (and patch it of course) and then you can just tell it to only moniter conversations between certain IPs, i like WPEs interface better though, but the new xp version never got released  |

oh and the author at least from what i heard wont be doing the winxp conversion anymore since he doesn't want to support multiplayer hacking of games. (but then why is wpe95/98 still up on his site?) whatever.....
so i guess he'll be concentrating on tsearch project alone |

ok, WPE
thats .7a, the one that works for win xp but only shows outgoing packets. Since that one is virtually impossible to find now I put it up, as for posting the link to the site with the new version, I think this time I'm not going to. It's not hard to find, just try google. It only takes a good 30 seconds to spot, try for yourself, don't be lazy  If people tried finding things out themselves instead of just relying on others to do the work and research for them, it would make things a lot easier on people like me.

WPE alpha pro is the best for XP/2K you can download it off my website @ http://www.geocities.com/idontgotaname/wpeproalpha.zip blah its 4AM time to sleep
